Visions of Light - Class, Suns Jan 14 & 21

Join us for a two-part series exploring how light, as metaphor, has shaped our conceptions of the divine. What are the scriptural roots of Christian visions of light, from the prologue of John's gospel through the epistles? How has the light been depicted in poetry by mystics and writers from Hildegard of Bingen in the middle ages through our dear Fred Borsch in modern times. What definitions of light do we see from Christ's life, death, resurrection and ascension forward? And what spiritual calls to us are embedded in these evocations of light? Through this exploration of the dimensions of these visions of light we ultimately are invited to look at our own relationship with divine light.
Meeting between services upstairs in the Sts Francis and Clare room on Sundays January 14 and 21, 9:15-10:05am.
