Preparing for Eternal Life, Sat July 15, 10a-12p
As Christians we believe that life is eternal and that beyond this earthly realm we will reside with Christ forever. Unfortunately, many, if not most of us, do not prepare for the transition from this life to the next. This includes making a will, planning a memorial service, and letting loved ones know the depth of our love for them. Come learn how to give your loved ones the gift of sacred support when our time on earth draws to a close. This mini-retreat will be led by clergy and guest Jody Giles CPA, Certified Financial Planner, and author of The Missing Pieces Plan. Come for this prayerful discussion of how to make the transition into eternal life with dignity and grace, while giving peace and assurance to our family and friends. Our guest speaker, Jody Giles, CPA, CFP, comes to us with 20 years experience working with families to craft their financial and philanthropic plans. Her motivation to write The Missing Pieces Plan grew out moving from Los Angeles to Jacksonville Florida a few years ago with her spouse and twin four-year old daughters, and discovering that her own family's financial plan had some missing pieces. Her book covers legal issues such as a will, power of attorney and advanced directives; legacy issues including funeral services; insurance issues; and letters to be prepared, like a letter of instruction and notes to loved ones. Jody’s mission is to help others fill in the missing pieces and “leave a legacy, not a mess.”
